An Interview with November Coming Fire
Hailing from Ashford in Kent, but widely associated with the Canterbury hardcore scene, November Coming Fire come from a close-nit family of bands that include Canaan, The Break In Winter In June, 10.15 Saturday Night, and Urotsukidoji. Other bands from the immediate area include Jairus, Number One Defender, One Time Champion, and many more. NCF support the Underground UK HC network of bands, promoters and labels that have helped them in the two years they have been together. Over the last ten months, NCF have played none stop, touring the UK three times, and playing a combination of small DIY all-ages shows as well as bigger supports to the likes of Converge, Himsa, Terror and Give Up The Ghost.
One of the few UK HC bands in the country that can fit on a bill with a group of old school HC bands one night, a bunch of metal bands the next and some noisy experimental bands after that, NCF draw their influences from all of those genres (their listening habits include AFI, Converge, Botch, Coalesce, Old Man Gloom, The Misfits and of course Samhain, whose third album was titled November Coming Fire) and use them to create something new. When asked what type of band they are, NCF will respond hardcore, but only because of their attitude, mindset and ethos, not their sound.
Their sound is not one they can sum up in one word. Their debut six-track mini-album 'Black Ballads' has come out fast, hard, heavy, jagged, melodic and discordant. There is every chance the next record will come out sounding the complete opposite! In reality, NCF is the perfect sum of its parts - all of the members come from functioning, recording, touring bands of all different types and this all collides to form a massive, in your face wall of sound which comes across perfectly on record and most importantly live. Their attitude is to try anything, if it sounds good, use it, and to give everything you have when playing live. Their shows are little short of total chaos, a band to be witnessed.
Interview by Amy Mullin

About three years...
How did you meet?
Ross and George were in Uro tsukidoji together Ross's other band. The Hallowed were looking for a second guitarist . They were playing Metal/Hardcore kind of Darkest Hour / The Haunted etc. We changed the name to NCF and have been evolving ever since.

Incredible varied! I guess from early influences like AFI, The Misfits, Danzig through to more chaotic / stoner influenced stuff like Converge Old Man, Gloom, Botch, Coalesce, Cursed and Floor. but also loads of proper hardcore from AN to Black Flag.
How did you come up with your bands name?
Its the title of the thrid Samhain Lp, its a cool name and a good tribute to Glen!

Well hopefully the record will be out for June, with us touring out the rest of the year.
Which band at the moment that have made it big over the last year do you respect the most?
Dont know really...
How would you describe your music to people?
Challenging, aggressive music..

Kingston Peel in London, Josephs Well in Leeds and Concorde II in Brighton
Explain to us what you do on a 'normal' day?
We all are either at University or have full time jobs...like everyone else!

No...that would be telling!
