Voodoo Child : Jimi Hendrix

If anyone wanted solid proof that Jimi Hendrix was the greatest and most influential man to of ever of graced the guitar, then look no further than Voodoo Child. This piece of evidence could stand up in a court of law as it reflects the genius of a man, like Shakespeare, who rewrote a language. Voodoo Child is a snapshot of history, the electric guitar revolution. You can almost visualise the chaos and colour Jimi imbues from his extensive use of effects pedals, and slight-of hand, creating sounds that had never been conceived prior to his reign. The song explodes with a slick wah-wah intro, followed by a voyage into the insane depths of a psychedelic sea. Like a magicians wand, the guitar’s energy and electricity commands the mountains, oceans, the heavens and the earth to crash and collide, giving birth to the Voodoo child himself, with the likes of blues masters, Robert Johnson, Elmore James, Muddy Waters and John Lee Hooker sipping nectar from the clouds above.
